Police have launched a manhunt for two suspects who shot and wounded two police officers in the early hours of this morning at the Tembisa informal settlement in Tembisa. One officer was shot in the leg and the other in the abdomen and they are both in a stable condition at the hospital. A vehicle, black BMW, which was driven by the suspects has been impounded for further investigation.

The officers were on routine patrol when they spotted a suspicious vehicle and followed it until it stopped outside a resident. Two men who got out of the vehicle started shooting at the police and members returned fire. Police officers were wounded. The suspects managed to flee and they are still at large. Their vehicle has been impounded for further investigation.

Police are also appealing to the members of the community who might have information about the identity and the whereabouts of suspects to contact the nearest police station or Crime Stop at 08600 10111 at all hours. Information that may lead to the arrest of these suspects may be rewarded.
